Fort Polk Military Base is located in what’s known as “The Crossroads” in Louisiana. Sitting roughly an hour drive from Alexandria, Fort Polk has quite an extensive history behind it, and ultimately, that history drove the rise of the surrounding area where many people now form a lively community that loves those willing to serve their country.
Camp Polk was officially completed and opened in August 1941. While much of the old wooden buildings have since been replaced following the Vietnam War, the military base’s mission remains the same.
In 1993, a new Joint Readiness Training Center relocated to Fort Polk and currently trains Army, Air Force, and Navy personnel in realistic combat operations. Currently, the fort is the location of training for light infantry and special operations forces.
More than 4,000 soldiers live at Fort Polk and their presence can be felt throughout the community. That’s why local businesses, like 171 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, offer specials and go the extra mile for those who signed on to serve. Without them, our country and tight-knit community simply wouldn’t be the same.
We here at 171 Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram would like to thank every member of the armed forces. Nothing would be the same without you!
